Intestinal Permeability Assays: a Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Aim . A literature review of intestinal permeability assessment techniques. Key points The barrier is a functional entity separating the lumen and internal body, measure functionality. integrity assays differ by application setting ( in vivo or ex ), subject (human animal), marker molecules used to assess (ions, various size carbohydrates, macromolecules, antigens, bacterial products bacteria), biomaterial for concentration (peripheral blood, portal venous urine, stool). Despite great variety methods assessing permeability, their clinical requires further studies due lack standardisation, complexity selected techniques occasional limited reliability results. Conclusion Further investigation improvement required. assay result standardisation will facilitate practice organic diseases, as well allergies, diabetes mellitus, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease some other illnesses.

A Review on Angiogenesis and Its Assays
Angiogenesis or formation of new blood vessels from preexisting vasculature is a key process in some physiological conditions such as wound healing, growth, and action of female reproductive organs. Moreover, disturbance of the mechanisms of physiological angiogenesis has a role in pathogenesis of some diseases in the form of overproliferation of blood vessels such as cancers, psoriasis, arthri...
متن کاملIntestinal permeability in strongyloidiasis.
The objective of the present study was to assess intestinal permeability in patients with infection caused by Strongyloides stercoralis. Twenty-six patients (16 women and 10 men), mean age 45.9, with a diagnosis of strongyloidiasis were evaluated. For comparison, 25 healthy volunteers (18 women and 7 men), mean age 44.9, without digestive disorders or intestinal parasites served as normal contr...
متن کاملPermeability of Intestinal Capillaries
The pathway followed by macromolecules across the wall of visceral capillaries has been studied by using a set of tracers of graded sizes, ranging in diameter from 100 A (ferritin) to 300 A (glycogen). Polysaccharide particles, i.e. dextran 75 (mol wt approximately 75,000; diam approximately 125 A), dextran 250 (mol wt 250,000; diam approximately 225 A), shellfish glycogen (diam approximately 2...

OBJECTIVE To measure the intestinal permeability in patients with Behçet's syndrome (BS) and to compare the results with those obtained from healthy and diseased controls. METHOD The study group comprised 34 patients with BS without known gastrointestinal disease. Ten patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS), 6 with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), 17 with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE...
